Woman Who Allegedly Stole Child and Raised Her Surrenders to Authorities

By

Ann Pettway surrendered to authorities in Connecticut Sunday morning. You might think it was because of the time she (allegedly) stole a 19-day-old baby from a hospital and raised it for 23 years before recently revealing to the child that she wasn't her biological mother. But, actually, it was more directly because of the time she stole a few items from a store in North Carolina where she works and was consequently barred from leaving the state as part of her probation. Spotted in Bridgeport, Connecticut, over the weekend, allegedly on the run from authorities looking to question her about the baby she's believed to have stolen, Pettway turned herself in on account of violating her probation. She is now due to appear in federal court to face kidnapping charges. [HuffPo]
