Who's your favorite New Yorker, living or dead, real or fictional?
Norman, the bartender at the Ritz. My mom and I would go, and since I was 12, he's kept an eye on me.

What's the best meal you've eaten in New York?
The pumpkin ravioli from Balthazar, a combination of homemade pasta, sage, and butter. I order it every time I go there.

In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job?
I spend the day trying to be somebody else.

What was your first job in New York?
I was the Ivory Snow baby when I was 11 months old.

What's the last thing you saw on Broadway?
Next to Normal. I was awestruck. The music was incredible.

Do you give money to panhandlers?
Yes

What's your drink?
Duvel Beer. When I was breast-feeding, my baby nurse suggested that I drink beer to help my milk come in. I never stopped. [Ed: You can read more about Brooke's Belgian beer habit over on Grub Street.]

How often do you prepare your own meals?
I "make" my own breakfast every morning. Avocado on toast with salt, pepper, olive oil, and lemon. I am a gourmet cook!

What's your favorite medication?
Anything that ends in A-M-B-I-E-N.

What's hanging above your sofa?
A Malcolm Liepke painting of men sitting around a dinner table. He rarely paints men, and I loved it.

When's bedtime?
What's that? I have two kids.

Which do you prefer, the old Times Square or the new Times Square?
I like the new, but maybe they should bring back a little of the old. Maybe a spiffy AMC 14 porn/kung fu theater?

What do you think of Donald Trump?
I like his daughter.

What do you hate most about living in New York?
Cigarette butts in the snow.

Who is your mortal enemy?
Fear.

When's the last time you drove a car?
Sometime over the summer, and not very well.

How has the Wall Street crash affected you?
Made me realize no one knows what they're doing.

Times, Post, or Daily News ?
Times online.

Where do you go to be alone?
Spinning at SoulCycle. The class may be full, but I am in my own little world.

What makes someone a New Yorker?
Getting through a long day, fighting the crowds, the weather, cabbies and then still holding a door open for someone.
