Former general chairman of the Democratic National Committee and Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell is splitting from his wife of 40 years. He and U.S. District Court Judge Marjorie “Midge” Rendell released a statement Monday saying that they are now living apart. “This has been a difficult decision, but we both believe it is the right thing to do,” said the statement. “Our parting is amicable, and we will remain friends and continue to be active in our community, sometimes together, sometimes separately.” In 2008, many speculated that Rendell would be named to Obama’s cabinet. Last month, he finished up his second term as governor and is now said to be mulling a new position at NBC.
