A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the New Zealand city of Christchurch on Tuesday afternoon (our Monday night), seriously damaging the city's buildings, buckling streets and breaking water mains.The spire on the 147-year-old Christchurch Cathedral toppled and phone lines are down. The local hospital has been evacuated and the airport is shut down. This is the city's second major earthquake in five months.
