No doubt inspired by Republican legislators' sudden zeal for creating a false spectrum of what constitutes rape, today Ohio lawmakers introduced a bill, co-created by the pro-life group Faith2Action, that would make it illegal to perform an abortion in the state once a fetus develops a heartbeat. Considering that can happen within just eighteen days of conception, a spokesman for NARAL said, "Most women don’t know they are pregnant at that point." This is the fifth bill restricting abortion rights Ohio has introduced recently, including one calling for stricter parental consent and another banning late-term abortion. [Newser]
