Rumors are sweeping through the oil market that Muammar Qaddafi has been shot. A U.S. official told Reuters he had no reason to believe the talk, but oil prices quickly dropped $2 a barrel as the word spread. Earlier today, Mustafa Mohamed Abud Al Jeleil, one of Qaddafi’s former justice ministers said that rather than flee or surrender, Qaddafi intended to go out like Hitler, and told a Swedish newspaper, “Qaddafi’s days are numbered. He will do what Hitler did — he will take his own life.” Guess a world leader willing to commit genocide against his own people doesn’t shy away from a Hitler comparison. [Reuters, NYP]
