Eight people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip Tuesday. The fatalities included four civilians who were killed after a tank shell was fired at a Gaza suburb. Another four people were killed when an Israeli plane fired at a car. Military forces claimed the car's passengers were Islamic Jihad militants. Tensions had been mounting since last week, when two members of Hamas were killed in an air strike. In retaliation, around 50 mortar shells were fired from Gaza into Israel, resulting in several injuries. Hamas claimed responsibility for Saturday's attacks, and said it will likely result in another attack on Israel. Said Ismail Radwan, a spokesman for Hamas,"The brutal crime of today will not pass without a response by the resistance."
