Department of Transportation Suspends a Discount Bus Line

The U.S. Department of Transportation has suspended Super Luxury Tours, the bus operator involved in an accident two weeks ago that killed the driver and a passenger. Super Luxury Tours was in the lowest percentile of coach service safety rankings, although World Wide Tours, not Super Luxury Tours, operates the bus that crashed in the Bronx and killed fifteen people two days before the Super Luxury Tours crash. The move to sideline the Pennsylvania-based bus operator occurred on the same day Senator Frank Lautenberg spoke at a Senate hearing on transportation, urging further regulation for discount bus lines. Consider the crackdown on. [Philly Inquirer via NYP]
