Americans Overestimate Amount of Foreign Aid in Budget by 900 Percent

Shocker: Americans aren’t really that familiar with the nuts and bolts of the federal budget! For example, the average American guesses that foreign aid accounts for 10 percent of the federal budget, when, in fact, it’s actually only one percent. We’re even worse when it comes to guessing the amount of funding for public television and radio in the budget. Americans on average guessed 5 percent, but it’s only 0.1 percent. Something to keep in mind as the country makes difficult budget decisions for the next few years. [Political Ticker/CNN]
