A third-grader bought a loaded semi-automatic handgun from a classmate for just $3 yesterday at their elementary school in Flushing, Queens. Later, the lucky owner of the new firearm proudly showed off his purchase to his mother, but far from being impressed with the amazing bargain he secured, she complained to school administrators, who called police. Turns out the boy who sold the gun took it from his dad, and the boy who bought it thought it was a toy. It’s hard to overstate how much worse this story could have turned out. [NYP]
