The Wait Is Over: Tim Kaine Is Running for Senate

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 04: Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) walks toward a House Democrat caucus meeting on January 4, 2011 in Washington, DC. The new 112th Congress is due to be sworn in on Wednesday January 5, with the House being lead by House Speaker elect John Boehner (R-OH). President Barack Obama's Healthcare reforms are expected to be a target for the Republicans, who now dominate the new House of Representatives with Democrats maintaining a small majority in the Senate. It isn't much of a surprise at this point, but after months of mulling, former Virginia governor and DNC chairman Tim Kaine has officially announced that he'll run for retiring Democratic senator Jim Webb's Virginia seat in 2012 (possibly against former senator George "Macaca" Allen, if he becomes the GOP nominee). Taking Kaine's place at the DNC will be fourth-term Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. [Politico, Politico]
