DNA tests performed by the NYPD found traces of Dominique Strauss-Kahn's semen on the clothes of the Sofitel maid who is accusing him of attempted rape. The news was first reported by Atlantico.fr, a French news organization that counts Nicolas Sarkozy's former online campaign director as an investor, as conspiracy theorists have previously pointed out. Investigators had already removed a portion of the carpet from the hotel's penthouse suite to search for DNA. But considering that Strauss-Kahn's defense team has hinted that it will try to present the alleged assault as consensual, DNA evidence alone may not be enough for prosecutors to prove their case.
