IBM did not create Watson solely to humiliate the human race in a trivia game, take control of our weapons systems, and then kill us all. True to their promise, the company is now hard at work shaping Watson into a robot doctor that can tell you what disease you might have based on your symptoms and then suggest which drugs to take. Let’s hope it ends up being more helpful than searching for a diagnosis on the Internet, which has always managed to convince us that whatever symptom we have is caused by cancer. [AP via CBS News]
