Back in March, Newt Gingrich, Speaker of the House twelve years ago, fooled everyone into thinking he was going to announce a run for president, then merely proclaimed that he was interested but had to sort out some business stuff first. After keeping America waiting with whatever is the opposite of bated breath, a spokesman revealed last week that Gingrich will announce that he’s running for president sometime this week. Today, the spokesman further clarified that Gingrich will declare his candidacy on Twitter and Facebook this Wednesday. Incredible as it is, they’ve actually found a way to make Newt Gingrich’s inevitable presidential campaign announcement even more anti-climactic then it was always destined to be.
