Rolling Stone Writer’s Afghanistan Book Deal Canceled

Last summer Rolling Stone writer Michael Hastings was reportedly paid in the high six figures to turn his controversial story, “The Runaway General,” into a book for Little, Brown. (It was the article that caused the commander of our troops in Afghanistan, Stanley McChrystal, to resign.) But now Keith Kelly reports that the publishing house has canceled the deal, for reasons unknown. Hastings’s agent, Andrew Wylie, is said to be shopping the manuscript to other publishers already.
