Cable news channel Al Jazeera English will make its New York City broadcast debut today when it begins airing on Time Warner and Verizon FiOS channel RISE, which formerly functioned as a Spanish-language channel. Al Jazeera English, which proved itself indispensable to the American public during months of Middle East uprisings earlier this year, has struggled to make headway on the American airwaves and is aiming for a bigger shot at national viewership.
