Most of the time, subways have to be operational before the buskers move in. But the Second Avenue subway, not yet built, already has a guy with a karaoke machine and a dream: Gary Russo, a construction worker on the site, has taken to spending his lunch breaks crooning standards to soothe Upper East Siders who might be irritated by the constant, jarring noise of the project. He's surprisingly charming! And he knows it — check out the wink at the end of video, below. He mostly does Sinatra, but maybe if you ask nicely, he'll do a little rendition of the YMCA.
