The Secret Service sprang to action when a man identified as James Dirk Crudup climbed over the White House fence with a backpack. Agents quickly took him into custody and escorted him out through the North Lawn, while the backpack is being thoroughly examined for explosives; the area’s been shut down, just in case. Crudup, who the Secret Service say is homeless, is being charged with unlawful entry and, interestingly, contempt of court, as he’s apparently no stranger to showing up to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue uninvited.
