Hurricane Irene Tabloid Covers ‘Blow’

By

New York City's rival tabloids predictably took on the only local news of the weekend with Sunday covers dedicated entirely to Hurricane Irene. While the Daily News went with a straightforward "Blown Away" headline, the Post went a touch lewder, as they're known to do, with "Irene Blows!" But in addition to their matching verb choice, both picked the same image of a yelping, wet woman in North Carolina. Also identical: the "killer 'cane" sub-headline. Overall, it's a repetitive showing from the often inspired papers, this time looking more lackluster than the storm itself.
