Is It Time to Freak Out About Hurricane Katia?

Nope! Granted, it’s definitely inconvenient that another hurricane is already beginning to churn in the Atlantic even as states from North Carolina to Maine continue to recover from Hurricane Irene. But it’s far too early to tell where Tropical Storm Katia — which is expected to become a full-blown hurricane as early as today — will go. That map that looks like a small child scribbled all over it with crayons? Those are the historical routes taken by hurricanes in Katia’s current position. So, basically, anywhere. And probably not New York.
