Barack Obama visited Dover Air Force Base in Delaware today to meet privately with the families of the the servicemen killed in Afghanistan over the weekend. A helicopter carrying 30 Americans, including some Navy Seals from the secretive Seal Team 6 credited with killing Osama Bin Laden, was shot down in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, marking the deadliest day for American troops in the war thus far. Yesterday, the president praised the fallen: "These men and women put their lives on the line for the values that bind us together as a nation." [The Caucus/NYT]
