Forty Percent of Smokers Are Glad They’re Not Allowed to Smoke Anywhere Anymore

The two-month-old ban on smoking in pedestrian plazas, city parks, and beaches is fairly popular, a NY1/Marist poll finds. Sixty-nine percent of adults think it’s a “good idea,” even as only 33 percent say the ban has had a positive effect on them. Strangely, even 40 percent of cigarette smokers back the new restrictive rules. These people are either trying to quit, or they’re just really, really considerate. [NY1]
