Ahmadinejad Says Iran Will Release American Hikers

In a new interview with NBC, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad promised to release the remaining two American hikers accused of espionage within “two days” for $500,000 each. Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal were sentenced last month to eight years in Iranian jail after two years of detention in Tehran. Sarah Shourd, the third hiker picked up on the Iraqi border in 2009, was released last year on $500,000 bail. [NYT]
