NYPD Officer Accused of Racist Arrest Is Being Held in Protective Custody

Policeman Michael Daragjati, who has been charged with falsely arresting a black man during an April stop-and-frisk search and subsequently describing the incident as “[frying] another nigger,” is being held in protective custody while he awaits a bail hearing. During a court appearance on Tuesday, Daragjati’s lawyer said his client, “[Has] been a good police officer, he’s made a lot of arrests and I guess people may view that in a different light now.” It’s true — when it comes to arrests, people do generally prefer quality over quantity.
