Early this morning, a Zuccotti Park protester believed to be Toronto native Dylan Spoelstra scaled the 40-foot red-beamed Joie de Vivre statue by Mark di Suvero, claiming he would not come down until Mayor Michael Bloomberg resigned. Naturally, his conditions were not met, and after a two-hour standoff in which hostage negotiators were unable to talk him down, police closed off the nearby street and brought in a cherry picker. The man was then taken to Bellevue for a psychiatric evaluation. May this be a new tactic to clear out the protesters — claim they are all insane? [NYP]
