New York columnist John Heilemann spoke with Chris Cillizza today about the continually clumsy response of Herman Cain’s campaign to the candidate’s current sexual harassment scandal and what they hoped to accomplish by blaming Team Perry for the leak then walking back that accusation later today. “The facts are getting worse for Herman Cain, not better,” Heilemann said, noting that it’s the facts that matter and not who presented the facts to the news media. “Facts are coming closer to eyewitness evidence … and that makes the story worse for him as it goes forward because those are the things that will actually take him down.”
