Guy Who Sells Candy on the Subway Earns $55,000 a Year

You know those dudes who come into your subway car, loudly proclaim that they are trying to make an honest living by selling candy, and then leave after being completely ignored by everyone? Somehow, they end up making a pretty good living. Alex “Tracks” McFarland, the star of a documentary short by Bianca Consunji, says he takes in $150 a day selling candy on the subway, seven days a week, which adds up to an annual salary of nearly $55,000 in cold, hard cash. “This is what I do with my money,” he says in the video. “I buy $300 sneakers.” Gah
