Veteran Reporters Take New York Times Buyouts

The voluntary buyouts offered by the Paper of Record this fall have been accepted by a handful of newsroom fixtures, the Observer reports, including “Metro” columnist Clyde Haberman, sportswriter George Vecsey, and at least eight others, all of whom have more than 240 years experience at the Times combined. The paper’s parent company is losing weight all around, having also sold off some of its smaller properties and scrapped its CEO.
