Yahoo! announced today that Jerry Yang, the company’s co-founder, has stepped down from the board effective immediately. Yang has been the face of the Internet giant that was originally called “Jerry and Dave’s Guide to the World Wide Web” when Yang and Dave Filo developed the website in 1994. Given the name “Chief Yahoo,” Yang may be best remembered, and resented by shareholders, for rejecting a takeover attempt by Microsoft in 2008 based on a $47.5 billion valuation. According to the Times, Yang did not cite a reason for leaving. The reason is because Jerry is frustrated, pissed off, and wants to sip piña coladas for a while until he decides to get back in the game.
