The NYPD has specifically warned its force to be wary of Ocean’s Eleven–style bank robberies this weekend. Long holiday weekends, when banks are closed, attract this kind of activity. The department wrote in a bulletin, “sophisticated crews, who rely on look-outs and monitor police frequencies, use torches and drills to cut through walls, roofs and even tunnel through neighboring buildings to access the bank vault.” The NYPD might be overreaching with their comparison a bit, though, saying nothing about Bernie Mac–style con men, pickpockets, or Chinese acrobat artists.
