Schumer: New Painkillers Will Increase Crime

Senator Charles Schumer said strong painkillers under review by the FDA could lead to more pharmacy holdups like the one on Long Island that cost a federal agent his life on New Year's Eve. The popular drug Vicodin, a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen, has been blamed for a dramatic rise in pharmacy robberies in recent years. The new drugs would actually be pure hydrocodone-based pills.
