In a tragic, but very New York City coda to Sunday's subway station fire story, it turns out that the man who was killed co-wrote a graphic novel about living in a subway station. Anthony Horton had turned an abandoned communications room into a makeshift apartment and, along with a woman he met on the train, authored Pitch Black: Don't Be Skerd based on his time underground. The Daily News has a nice little obituary today, in which friends recall Horton's many talents, with one remembering, "He was a self-taught gymnast and would do 20 backflips down the sidewalk."
