Rick Santorum’s surging campaign is not shy. In a new fast-paced ad dubbed “Quotes,” currently airing throughout Michigan, a series of praises from prominent conservative voices flash across the screen, alternating with images from the campaign trail. The quotes, presented with action movie montage music, come from Mike Huckabee (“I adore Rick Santorum’s conviction”) and The Wall Street Journal (“We score Santorum’s economic agenda bolder than Romney’s”), among others. But the winner of Which one is not like the other? goes to Glenn Beck’s line, which appears without context: “Rick Santorum is the next George Washington.” As in, George Washington. Santorum’s camp doesn’t even want to liken him to contemporary heroes. You’ve got to admire that moxie.
