More evidence that President Barack Obama and his team don't actually think anodyne jokes about spilled milk are funny. Over the past week, Obama's staffers have exhibited a talent for sass. Or snark, depending on whether you think this kind of humor is good or evil. (Our stance on that, we hope, is clear from the headline.) To wit: This afternoon, the official Barack Obama Twitter feed posted a link to a video of Donald Trump endorsing Mitt Romney, with the introduction, "In case you missed it."
That was shortly after Press Secretary Jay Carney said, in response to a question about whether or not Obama had sought Trump's endorsement, "I'm not going to comb over that question." Burrrrrnnnnn! Wonder how long he'd been sitting on that one. And, of course, there was David Axelrod's amazing tweet from earlier this week, which contained a picture of Barack Obama and his dog Bo, along with the comment, "How loving owners transport their dogs." (A reference to the 30-year-old incident, kept alive in the popular imagination thanks to Gail Collins, in which Mitt Romney strapped his dog to the roof of his car and drove to Canada.)
All of this is just to say: Obama's staffers have given us performance anxiety about our own sass levels. Is Axelrod available for a quick consultation on this kicker?
