You may recall that during an appearance on Fox and Friends on Friday, Rivera attributed Martin's shooting death, in large part, on Trayvon Martin's attire that night: a hoodie. "I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin's death as George Zimmerman is," Rivera opined.
Rivera went on to urge parents of black and Latino youngsters, in particular (white kids can still wear hoodies?), to not let their children go out wearing hoodies.
"Every time you see a mugging on a surveillance camera or they get the old lady in the alcove, it's a kid wearing a hoodie. You have to recognize that this whole stylizing yourself as a 'gangsta' … You're gonna be a gangsta wannabe? Well, people are going to perceive you as a menace. That's what happens. It is an instant reflexive action."
Of course there must be special exceptions to Geraldo's hoodie rule, which you can study in the growing gallery at Geraldo in a Hoodie.
