Americans usually like the wives of politicians far more than they like the politicians themselves. Even in the depths of George W. Bush hatred, for instance, Laura retained an 82 percent approval rating. It's rare for the public to actively dislike a first lady, or would-be first lady. Except, it seems, for Callista Gingrich. According to a new poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, while she is better liked than her husband, she's by far the least popular of the field of helpmates. PPP:
-Michelle Obama has a 54/34 favorability rating, compared to her husband's 48/48 approval.
-Ann Romney has a 31/22 favorability rating, compared to her husband's 33/58.
-Karen Santorum has a 31/27 favorability rating, compared to her husband's 36/53.
-Callista Gingrich is actually pretty unpopular, with an 18/44 favorability rating. But it's at least better than her husband's 28/61.
Is it the hair? The whole homewrecking thing? It's the band-dork thing, isn't it, America?
