Two iPads, two handheld radios, and two laptops were stolen from Romney aides in San Diego on Friday, 10News reports. The two aides left their rented SUV in a mall parking garage while they got dinner and returned to find their devices — which contained detailed information about the Romney campaign — stolen.
10News interviewed local political analyst Carl Luna for his take:
"This could just be a coincidence. Then again, given this campaign season and how negative it's been, dirty tricks are not alien to American politics."
There can only be one explanation, then: Joe Biden wore his aviator sunglasses and broke into the SUV himself to learn all Romney's secrets.
A Romney campaign spokesman said the incident was inconvenient and unfortunate, but that the campaign is not concerned about stolen information issues, despite Romney's recent reluctance to reveal the details of his budget plans.
The real problem: How will those aides use the Economist iPad app now?
