A U.S. official says that the suspect in Sunday’s massacre of civilians in Afghanistan had been drinking before the attacks. “When it all comes out, it will be a combination of stress, alcohol and domestic issues — he just snapped,” the official said. Following the attacks, the Taliban stopped peace talks with the U.S. and Afghan President Karzai called for troops to leave Afghanistan a year early.
