News Corp. Paper Sued for E-mail Hacking

News Corp. chairman and chief executive Rupert Murdoch emerges from a meeting with key members of the Bancroft family, who controls Dow Jones & Co., Monday, June 4, 2007 in New York. The family had initially rebuffed Murdoch's $5 billion offer for Dow Jones & Co. in early May, but last Thursday agreed to meet with him. (AP Photo/Jason DeCrow)

Mark Lewis, the lawyer threatening to bring phone-hacking lawsuits stateside, has also brought a claim against Rupert Murdoch’s Times of London for illegally accessing the e-mail account of a formerly anonymous police blogger. “I sorely regret the intrusion,” a Times editor told the government’s Leveson inquiry earlier this year, although the paper previously denied the charges. Luckily, the company is getting pretty good at settlements.
