One of the most memorable ads of the 2008 campaign was "Celeb," released that July, which labeled Barack Obama the "biggest celebrity in the world" while questioning whether he was "ready to lead." And it worked — McCain won the election. Now Karl Rove's super PAC, American Crossroads, has released an ad that might as well be called "Celeb 2: Electric Boogaloo." It puts together Obama's recent appearance on Fallon with clips of him singing, dancing, and drinking beer, and asks young voters whether any of that coolness meant to impress them has actually improved their lives. Can someone be too cool for their own good? Unclear, but the Fonz would say no.
