Transport Workers Union Local 100 is supporting a bill from Brooklyn State Senator Eric Adams, a former NYPD captain, that would arm subway workers and bus drivers with Tasers. Last year, transit employees were physically assaulted 94 times, but both the NYPD and MTA oppose the measure. Riders are probably a bit skeptical, too, although high-school teachers might appreciate the precedent.
