One of Ann Romney’s Fancy Horses Might Become Even Fanicer

As you are no doubt now well aware, horses — Austrian Warmbloods and Missouri Foxtrotters — are among the enviable things owned by the Romney family. The New York Times recently did a feature on Ann’s affection for the animals, with special attention paid to her relationship with trainer Jan Ebeling (who either did or did not conceal the foot defect of a horse he sold to a California woman in 2010), with whom she co-owns an Oldenburg mare named Rafalca. According to a blog post by Ebeling, he and Rafalca will be competing in a Gladstone, New Jersey, dressage event this weekend that could qualify the pair for a spot at the upcoming Olympics in London. It’s like a primary, basically, but for horses.
