Veteran Village Voice columnist and man about downtown, Michael Musto, is baffled by the gay Republican group GOProud’s endorsement of Mitt Romney, and took to his typically loose blog to say so:

Black Klan members!
Women who campaign for Rush Limbaugh!
Mexican Republicans!
Roaches who moonlight as exterminators!
Blech, go away.
Keeping the discourse at the highest level, GOProud co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia told Buzzfeed, “Have you seen Michael Musto lately? We aren’t going to take serious political advice from a human Muppet. Musto should stick to writing gossip pieces about Lindsay Lohan, and leave politics to the professionals.” Andrew Breitbart and Ann Coulter would be proud.
Musto then shot back with some substance, writing in a follow-up, “I have openly fought against homophobia and discrimination and bigotry, railing against the demonization of people with HIV, while tackling a mass of other LGBT issues (DADT, bullying, marriage, etc.), even when they weren’t popular.” He added, “Do I look like a Muppet? Yeah, but how is that relevant?” Bert and Ernie would really be proud.
