Oracle CEO Just Bought a Hawaiian Island

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison became the proud owner of 98 percent of a tropical Hawaiian paradise on Wednesday, purchasing the “Pineapple Island” of Lanai from a real estate company owned by billionaire David Murdock. Here’s a nice $4.5 million property if you’d like to join him. It’s unclear how much Ellison paid for the island that’s inhabited by about 3,200 residents, but Maui Now estimates that the asking price was in the $600 million range. Pineapple mojitos probably taste better when the fruit is plucked from your own damn island.
