Saudi Crown Prince Dies, Which May Be Good News for Saudi Women

Septuagenarian Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Sayef bin Abdul-Aziz died this morning in Geneva, Switzerland, just a few short months after being elevated to the post. A hard-line conservative, he was expected to roll back many (incremental) reforms implemented by the 88-year-old King Abdullah, including womens' right to vote and eventually run in municipal elections. A likely new heir, to be chosen after a three-day period of mourning, is the far more "moderate" Prince Salman (see picture), the current defense minister.
