Colorado police found a Batman mask and poster inside the home of 24-year-old James Holmes, the man police believe is responsible for the mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater that left 59 were wounded and 12 dead after a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Local police and the FBI earlier determined that there's evidence reflecting Holmes planned the attack with "calculation and deliberation." ABC reports that Holmes dyed his hair red and told authorities after the shooting that he was "The Joker." According to a jailhouse worker, Holmes remained in that character after arriving at a detention center.
While former acquaintances and colleagues of Holmes have said that he seemed like a "normal dude," an alarm went off for Glenn Rotkovich, owner of a Colorado gun range that Holmes attempted to join in late June. Rotkovich told the Associated Press that Holmes's voice mail greeting was "bizarre — guttural, freakish at best." Rotkovich declined to allow Holmes to join the club and warned his staff to watch out for him. Rotkovich told the AP he concluded of Holmes, "There's something weird here."
