In a story about City Council Speaker Christine Quinn's weekend lifestyle, the Times explores how, for the last decade, the mayoral hopeful's heart has belonged to the New Jersey shore. “I like to drive around, see who has new flowers, who has new awnings,” she said during a recent interview at her weekend home in Bradley Beach, which she bought in 2004 with her partner Kim Catullo. “The point of the house is about family and having family functions and having a place to get away and relax."

Quinn's house is actually only a mile south of Asbury Park, the inspiration of much of Bruce Springsteen's work. In fact, Quinn's partner Kim Catullo walked down the aisle to Springsteen's "If I Should Fall Behind" at their May wedding. Springsteen happens to be an obsession for New Jersey governor Chris Christie, whose love for the Boss is comically unrequited. Is Quinn a super-fan, too, with a Jersey soul? Well, according to the Times, she does have an antique "Jersey Girl" sign in her 1924 bungalow.

Across the river to the Jersey side.
