Cops Sued for Shooting Ex-Marine at Home

Although a Westchester County grand jury opted not to bring charges against police in the death of 68-year-old Kenneth Chamberlain, his family is moving forward with a federal wrongful death suit alleging "unreasonable and unnecessary" force, the Times reports. Chamberlain was shot dead in his White Plains apartment after a standoff with officers, who were responding to his medical-alert device and discovered the former Marine "acting irrational" and brandishing a knife, cops claim. "This is just another step in trying to get justice for my father," said Chamberlain's son of the lawsuit. A civil rights review is also under way.
