Someone stole my iPhone, I quit my job, my girlfriend broke up with me, I was having a rough day,” said James Whittemore, the 23-year-old man who turned violent during a bender last July, kicking in the glass doors of the historic Ed Sullivan Theater and urinating on the floor. Whittemore pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal-mischief charge, paid over $7,000 in restitution, and agreed to undergo a 90-day alcohol treatment program. “I had no idea where I was,” he said. Sounds like bad luck — the doors are much less expensive a couple streets down at McDonald’s.
