Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus could barely get a word in today on Morning Joe as Chris Matthews scolded him like a disappointed dad. “It is an embarrassment to your party to play that card,” Matthews said of Mitt Romney’s birther joke on Friday. “You are playing that ethnic card there,” he said, as Priebus averted his eyes and chuckled. “You can sit there and giggle about it, but the fact is your party is playing that card.” Finally the RNC boss offered, “Any moment of levity is frowned upon by guys like you,” to which Matthews shot back, “It just seems funny that the first joke he ever told in his life was about Obama’s birth certificate.” That one deserves a giggle.
